Amy is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner with a Master of Science in Nursing and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of South Florida, where her doctoral studies included a clinical focus in rheumatology. She also holds a Post-MSN/DNP Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health from Florida State University. With 16 years of nursing experience, including over a decade as a nurse practitioner, Amy brings extensive experience and compassion to her practice. She prioritizes building supportive relationships where patients feel heard and respected, taking a holistic approach to managing chronic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and fibromyalgia. Having personally navigated life with an autoimmune disease and the complexities of immunosuppressant and biologic therapies, she offers a unique level of empathy and understanding to her patients. In addition to her clinical practice, Amy is an experienced educator who has served as a program director and professor, mentoring nurse practitioners and developing innovative training programs. She has been an active member of professional organizations, such as the Rheumatology Nurses Society, where she has contributed as a peer editor and presenter. Outside of work, Amy enjoys music, traveling, reading, spending time at the beach, sewing, and spending time with her husband and dogs.
